Next Generation Ministries is recruiting part-time and full-time paid interns for our out-of-school time programs at Spring Garden Academy. The children you will work with will range from PreK-8th grades. Interns will work directly with children and youth in a variety of activities (sports, arts, service, enrichment, etc.) to build youth leadership and ministry skills and implement a strong social-emotional curriculum designed to meet the needs of trauma-impacted children and youth. Interns will also experience the workings of a small non-profit, faith-based organization.
The ideal candidate will be a college/grad student who desires to work and learn more about at-risk children in an urban setting and also values a commitment to leadership development. A major in education, child development, youth programming, leadership, or children’s/youth ministry is a plus although this internship is open to other majors. The candidate should learn quickly, be open to team-based and collaborative work styles, demonstrate an interest in social/emotional learning and development, and have an interest in applying trauma research to the day-to-day work. The candidate must already have a minimum of 1200 hours working with children or youth (ages 18 and under) in a paid or volunteer position.
Next Generation Ministries prepares the children and youth in our community, including at-risk youth, to serve as leaders in the family, church, community, city, and world. Candidates should understand and embrace the vision and mission of our organization.
