Community Outreach Intern (Unpaid)

Next Generation Ministries is searching for a Community Outreach team member for a summer internship (July 6- August 28) to help maintain all outreach activities. You need to be self-motivated, energetic, and community-driven to take on this role. This position requires someone equipped with a positive attitude and readiness to be a team player. This position is virtual with some community visits, possible on site.

Duties will include managing data, distributing marketing materials, building/maintaining relationships with community partners, helping to manage event logistics and planning (internal and external), attending community events, and managing the bulk mailing process. Other responsibilities may involve administration assistance and writing copy for newsletter/ marketing materials. Video editing, photography, and/or grant writing skills are a plus.

The ideal candidate should have strong communication skills, professional etiquette, and must be personable. A desire to impact at-risk communities through faith-based initiatives and education is preferred. The candidate will experience the workings of a small non-profit and school with a mission. This internship has the potential to turn into a full-time, year-round position.

Children’s Ministry Interns (Unpaid)

Spring Garden Academy and our partner ministry, Next Generation Ministries, are currently looking for part-time Children’s Ministry Interns for our virtual community ministries this summer (July 6- August 28). The focus of this position is on Bible teaching through play and activities. This position is ideal for a high school or college student or an experienced educator focusing interested in volunteering. This position is virtual with some community visits, possible on site.

Experience working with children in children’s church, VBS, camp, or school programs highly desired. Coursework in Elementary Education, Youth Counseling, Early Childhood, Recreation or a related field desired. 1-2 years of experience (paid or volunteer) required. Additionally, having familiarity with child development, experiential learning, Conscious Discipline, and/or Keystone Stars is a plus.

IT Specialist

Spring Garden Academy, a ministry of Next Generation Ministries, is looking for a qualified IT Technician that will install and maintain computer systems and networks aiming for the highest functionality. You will also “train” users of the systems to make appropriate and safe usage of the IT infrastructure.

A successful IT Technician must have a thorough knowledge of computer software and hardware and a variety of internet applications, networks, and operating systems. The ideal candidate will also have great troubleshooting abilities and attention to detail.

The goal is to build and maintain updated and efficient computer systems and networks to optimize the role of technology on business sustainability.

Responsibilities

  • Set up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices (routers, printers, etc.)
  • Check computer hardware (HDD, mouses, keyboards, etc.) to ensure the functionality
  • Install and configure appropriate software and functions according to specifications
  • Develop and maintain local networks in ways that optimize performance
  • Ensure security and privacy of networks and computer systems
  • Provide orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment
  • Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their work
  • Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems (repair or replace parts, debugging, etc.)
  • Maintain records/logs of repairs and fixes and maintenance schedule
  • Identify computer or network equipment shortages and place orders

Requirements

  • Proven experience as IT Technician or relevant position
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication ability
  • Outstanding organizational and time-management skills
  • In-depth understanding of diverse computer systems and networks
  • Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field
  • Certification as an IT Technician will be an advantage

We are looking for qualified individuals who are committed to a holistic view of education in a high-risk community. We also place a high focus on meeting the needs of trauma-impacted families and encourage a collaborative approach to teaching/support.

Two to five years of experience required and a BS/BA in early childhood or a related field strongly desired. However, we will consider candidates with significant coursework/experience in the field. Strong commitment to differentiated instruction, child-focused learning, standards-based reporting, ongoing formative assessment, professional growth, understanding of at-risk communities, and a school family model of education highly desired. Also, familiarity with Conscious Discipline, NAYEC accreditation, Keystone Stars are a plus.

Middle School Teacher

Next Generation Ministries is currently hiring teachers for our K-8th grade North Philadelphia Christian school. We place a high focus on meeting the needs of at-risk and trauma-impacted families through our collaborative approach. Thus, we are looking for qualified individuals who are committed to a holistic view of education in a high-risk community.

We have full-time teaching positions for middle school as well as part-time positions in the specialized areas (language arts, math, science, or social studies). The candidate must be committed to differentiated instruction, spiritual development, child-focused learning, standards-based reporting, ongoing formative assessment, and professional growth. Ideal candidate understands a school family model of education. Familiarity with child Conscious Discipline and/or Keystone Stars are a plus.

Preschool Director

Spring Garden Academy, a ministry of Next Generation Ministries, is currently hiring an individual to join our team of directors as a Preschool and After School Director. This person will administer our Early Childhood Education programs along with our OST programs.

We are looking for qualified individuals who passionately embrace our vision and mission and are also committed to a holistic view of education in a high-risk urban community. We believe this is more than a job; it is a calling to urban missions and to the belief that children can be leaders in their communities. We place a high focus on meeting the needs of at-risk and trauma-impacted families. Thus, we are looking for individuals to support and nurture a collaborative approach to teaching and family engagement.

Candidates should have 3-5 years of administrative experience in addition to experience in the spiritual leadership and development of children or youth in the community, school, or church.

We also prefer candidates with a strong commitment to:

  • Leadership development,
  • child-focused learning,
  • Standards-based reporting,
  • Ongoing formative assessment,
  • Professional growth,
  • Understanding of at-risk communities,
  • And a school family model of education.

Candidates with experience with NAEYC accreditation, ASCI accreditation, Keystone Stars or other quality improvement models, are also strongly desired.

Next Generation is seeking a candidate that has a minimum of 2-3 years nonprofit or school administrative experience. Individual should be professional, courteous and has a desire to work in a private, Christian school. Organized, detail-oriented and  strong data entry skills are required. Part-time and Full-time positions available. Some job responsibilities include:
  • Serves as a receptionist for school students, parents and visitors
  • Processes a variety of student and school administrative information and data 
  • Contacts parents regarding student absences or illness at school

After School Interns

Next Generation Ministries is recruiting part-time and full-time paid After School Interns for our OST programs at Spring Garden Academy. In this role you will work children in PreK-8th grades leading enrichment activities while implementing a strong social-emotional after school curriculum.

Additionally, we will train you for positions in our Elementary School and offer substitute work. The ideal candidate will be a college/grad student who desires to work and learn more about at-risk children. A degree or significant coursework in Elementary Education, Youth Counseling, Early Childhood, or Recreation or a related field highly desired. Two-five years volunteer and/or professional experience required. Familiarity with child development, experiential learning, Conscious Discipline, and/or Keystone Stars are also a plus. A major in education, child development, youth programming, leadership, or children’s/youth ministry is a plus; however, this internship is open to other majors.

The candidate should learn quickly, be open to team-based work styles, demonstrate an interest in social/emotional learning and be interested in applying trauma research in daily work. Additionally, the candidate should already have a minimum of 1200 hours working with children or youth (ages 18 and under) in a paid or volunteer position.

-Compassion Ministries: Donate quality used adult and children’s clothing for our clothing bank

-Literature Distribution: Raise awareness in the community by sharing/handing out information about our events, programs, and more.

-Event Support (Weekly Family Nights): Thursday evenings 6:30-8:30pm  (Center City) and Friday evenings 5:00-8:30pm (North Philly) Build relationships and share God’s love with neighborhood families. Family Night Assistants

Family Night assistants will help with serving food, greeting families, set-up, and clean-up. If any volunteers have special skills (arts and crafts, dance, vocal, sports) we invite you to assist with creating activities for the children or lead a family program. Family Nights are held on Thursdays and Fridays.

In-Kind Donations Coordinator

Next Generation Ministries (NGM) is in need of an In-kind Donations Coordinator to dedicate a few hours a week to fundraising and soliciting in-kind donations for our school, youth center, and organization. Recently, we launched a campaign to acquire used, new, or refurbished laptops and other technological devices. As a fundraising volunteer, you will be charged with the responsibility of advancing our campaign. With your help, we will be able to get the resources needed to improve and expand the services provided through our organization. The need for smaller in-kind donations may come up on a week-by-week basis.
